I have there, in center of the photo, the facilities today closed of Pontesa (Alfares de Pontesampayo S.A.) a stoneware factory of which, in times, a good package of actions had the family of general Franco.

The cove of San Simón is a paradigm of contamination by heavy metals of industrial origin. The studies referred to this subject attribute the causes of this contamination to different origins, but the spills of this ceramic industry take all the prizes as far as the lead talks about.

The levels of contamination by this metal in the neighborhoods of the old factory are highest, and they extend by all the cove.

In case this souvenir of his times of activity it was little, the coarse mounts of stoneware that the factory spilled uncontrolled during those years, dumb witness can even be seen by the environs and irrefutable test of the long abandonment in which our natural patrimony agonizes, in a zone of highest the ecological interest, theoretically protected by the Network Natura 2000.
